KKR dealt major blow as Harshit Rana likely out for most of IPL 2026

Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered a major blow ahead of the IPL 2026 season, as pacer Harshit Rana is expected to remain sidelined for a significant portion of the tournament following knee surgery. He is currently undergoing rehab, while his comeback timeline is yet to be officially confirmed.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury during Indiaโ€™s T20 World Cup warm-up fixture against South Africa earlier this year, which also ruled him out of the ICC event. He later went through surgery in February and is now recovering under the supervision of the medical staff.

Ranaโ€™s likely absence comes as a big concern for KKR, with the franchise potentially missing one of its important Indian fast-bowling options at the start of the campaign. His unavailability could force the team management to make changes to their pace attack plans.

Although there remains a slight possibility of a return later in the season, current indications suggest Rana could miss most of the tournament, dealing a tough setback to both the player and the reigning champions.
